Animal’s Behavior
Foxes (Vulpes vulpes) are solitary animals that do not form packs. A male is referred to as a dog, and a female is called a vixen.

Eating Habits
Nocturnal omnivores eating mainly small vertebrates, along with fruit and carrion.

The widest distribution of any canid. Range is throughout the Northern Hemisphere.

Conservation Efforts
Raised commercially for their fur and targeted by farmers for preying upon unprotected chickens. Red foxes are classified as a species of Least Concern.

A single fox den can be used over many generations.
