Animal's Behavior
Elephants (Elephas maximus) are intelligent and self-aware. They can hear low amplitude sounds, and use infrasound for communication. They have been trained by humans for generations as work animals and as ceremonial creatures.

Eating Habits
Elephants are voracious megaherbivores, eating hundreds of pounds of food such as grasses and bark each day.

Conservation Efforts
Conservation organizations across the globe are working hard to save the elephant and preserve its habitat. While wild elephants can mean big business for tourism concerns, they also pose a threat to the human population in their native land, where they damage crops and injure residents every year.
