Animal Facts

While males are generally more solitary, females may form loose groups called crashes. White rhinos can get up to a speed of 35 mph, which with their physical traits, looks more like a gallop. Eye sight is not their most develop sense, but they do have a good sense of smell.

Males weigh around 5,000 pounds and females weigh around 4,000 pounds. Many white rhinos can live into their 30s. There are even some that have live to be in their 50s.

Historically, this species ranged throughout most of the African savanna south of the Sahara desert. Their populations now exist primarily in the southern part of Africa and a smaller population in East Africa.
