Sea Otter Experience

Go behind the scenes at Audubon Aquarium of the Americas to meet a southern sea otter! This unforgettable 30-minute experience gives an up-close sea otter interaction through a protective encounter area. Experience the charm of this charismatic, endangered animal while learning about conservation efforts from Aquarium staff. Your ticket also includes admission to Audubon Aquarium of the Americas before or after your scheduled Sea Otter Experience time!

- Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 11:30 AM 
- $95/person Members; $105/person Non-Members (plus sales tax)

Sea Otter Meet and Greet Highlights:

  • Meet a sea otter up close!
  • Go into the behind-the-scenes sea otter area with Aquarium staff.
  • Learn about sea otters and see some of their trained behaviors.
  • Take your own photos to capture the unforgettable moment.



  • Includes admission to Audubon Aquarium of the Americas before or after your scheduled time.
  • Every person attending must have a ticket.
  • Program is limited to two participants at a time.
  • Participants must be age 10 or over.
  • All participants 16 years and younger must be accompanied by a paid participating parent/guardian (21 or older).
  • Advance tickets recommended.
  • Tickets must be purchased 1 hour in advance.

Before You Arrive:

  • Sea Otter Experience lasts approximately 30 minutes.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled Sea Otter Experience.
  • Remember to bring your ticket with you. Mobile passes are accepted.
  • Tickets must be purchased 1 hour in advance. 
  • Footwear: Audubon Nature Institute strongly recommends participants wear sturdy, closed-toe, non-slip footwear. Participants will be asked to walk through a shallow foot bath before entering the sea otter holding area. Audubon is not responsible for injuries resulting from inappropriate footwear.
  • Participants may be asked to remove loose items or jewelry.
  • Cell Phones: Guests will be granted permission to take personal photos at certain times during the program. Cell phone use may be restricted.
  • All participants must be able to climb stairs and ladders. While we always strive to accommodate our guests, due to the constraints of our exhibit and holding area, this program is not ADA accessible.
  • • Participants with food allergies should be aware that our sea otters are offered a variety of seafood including finfish, shellfish, and crustaceans during the program.

Cancellation Policy
If you do not attend your scheduled Sea Otter Experience or cancel at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled Experience, you will forfeit the entire price of your Wild Encounter. To cancel your Sea Otter Experience, please call 1-800-774-7394 at least 48 hours before your scheduled time and leave your call-back information, confirmation number, date, and time of your visit for valid cancellations. Your Sea Otter Experience will be automatically canceled if your party arrives later than 15 minutes after your scheduled program time. Payments will be processed as a donation to Audubon Nature Institute.

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is not responsible for unauthorized duplication, lost, or stolen tickets. If duplicate tickets are presented, Audubon reserves the right to refuse entry to all ticket holders. Tickets are not for resale. In the unusual event that Aquarium staff are unable to provide this program on the date scheduled, the participant may reschedule an alternate date or receive a full refund.
