Animal Facts
While predominantly a land species, red river hogs are known to be decent swimmers as well. They have a flat disk made of cartilage at the end of their snout that with their muscles allows them to find food in on the ground.
Typically weigh between 100 and 250 pounds. In human care, a red river hog can expect to live about 15 years.
Range
Red River hogs can be found in a variety of forest habitats, mostly rainforests and the nearby wetlands. Their range follows the rainforest boundaries from central to western Africa.
