Whooping cranes are one of the most endangered birds in North America, having almost gone extinct in the 1940’s. The species was pulled from the brink of extinction by the breeding and release efforts of conversation organizations like Audubon Nature Institute. Today, the species is still endangered with only 800 birds left worldwide — approximately 75 of which living here in Louisiana in one of the only remaining wild flocks left in the country. Audubon is one of the few organizations in North America breeding and releasing whooping cranes. Winning the contest would allow us to invest in critical improvements to our whooping crane breeding and rearing facility that will have a positive impact on the species for generations. Please help these majestic birds by voting for Audubon!
