Party for the Planet

Party for the Planet presented by Entergy is a series of events and activities celebrating the wonders of nature held across New Orleans. The festivities kick off March 23, 2019, at Audubon Louisiana Nature Center and provide imaginative new ways for guests to experience nature through hands-on discovery and interactive experiences.

Party for the Planet includes a kick-off party at the Nature Center; events celebrating Endangered Species Day, World Oceans Day, and Pollinator Week; and two community volunteer events that support Audubon’s conservation education initiatives. Party for the Planet participants can earn fun badges at each event to celebrate their commitment to Planet Earth – make sure to collect all six!

Party for the Planet presented by Entergy: Earth Day Family Service Day 
April 27, 2019

Audubon Louisiana Nature Center

Earth Day Family Service Day is a fun way to make a positive impact on the environment by participating in outdoor service activities, such as invasive plant species removal, with Audubon educators and conservation partners. Participants can earn an Earth Day Family Service Day planet badge! Admission to this event is free to the public, but advance registration is encouraged.

Service opportunities will focus on wetlands habitat restoration projects at the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center in New Orleans East, specifically invasive species removal and native seed planting. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up early!

Participants will receive a free event t-shirt (first-come, first served) and can earn an Earth Day Family Service Day planet badge.

Party for the Planet presented by Entergy: Endangered Species Day

Audubon Zoo

Endangered Species Day at Audubon Zoo offers guests the opportunity to learn about the importance of protecting endangered species while enjoying animal care chats and interactive activities from Audubon animal care staff, educators, and conservation partners. Guests can take a conservation journey with Animal Quest and visit the Entergy table to learn how to earn an Endangered Species lion badge! This event is included in Zoo admission and complimentary for Audubon Members.

We will be collecting old cell phones to recycle for our “Gorillas on the Line” conservation effort. Recycling old mobile phones helps protect gorillas by reducing the demand for coltan, a mineral found in phones and other small electronics that is mined from gorilla habitats in Africa.

Party for the Planet presented by Entergy: World Oceans Day
June 8, 2019

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas

World Oceans Day is a global day of ocean celebration and collaboration for a better future. It offers guests the opportunity to learn how humans impact our ocean and marine life while enjoying animal care chats and interactive activities from Audubon husbandry staff, educators, and conservation partners. Guests can visit the Entergy table to learn how to earn a World Oceans Day fish badge! This event is included in Aquarium admission and complimentary for Audubon Members.

Party for the Planet presented by Entergy: Coastal Cleanup

This Party for the Planet volunteer opportunity is a fun way to make a positive impact on the environment by participating in an outdoor service day to clean up our public greenspaces with Audubon educators and conservation partners. Participants can earn a Coastal Cleanup bottle badge! Admission to this event is free to the public, but advance registration is encouraged. Check back soon for more details and a link to sign-up.

Party for the Planet presented by Entergy: Pollination Celebration
June 22, 2019

Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium

National Pollinator Week is an international celebration of the valuable ecological roles played by bees, birds, butterflies, bats, beetles, and other pollinators. Pollination Celebration on Saturday, June 22, offers guests the opportunity to learn about the crucial relationship between animal, plant, and human life while enjoying educational chats and interactive activities with Audubon entomology staff, educators, and conservation partners. Guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite pollinator and visit the Entergy table to learn how to earn a Pollination Celebration butterfly badge! This event is included in Butterfly Garden and Insectarium admission and complimentary for Audubon Members.
