Jermaine L. Smith serves as Vice President of Institutional Advancement for the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH), where he is responsible for all fundraising, development, and advancement activities, including advancement communications.

Jermaine has held leadership roles with City Year, the American Red Cross, and Tulane University. He served as board chair for the Young Leadership Council (YLC), and currently serves on the boards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (New Orleans) and the Paideia School Alumni Advisory Council. He previously served on the boards of Foundation Preparatory Charter School, Friends of New Orleans Public Library, and OC Haley Merchants & Business Association.

Jermaine’s inspiration for joining the Commission were the dozens of visits to the Zoo; Aquarium; and Butterfly Garden and Insectarium with his partner, Dr. Megan Holt, and their sons, Jefferson and Abel. He graduated with a BA in Public Relations from Tulane University and earned his MBA from Boston University.
