 HOLIDAY EDUCATION CAMPS

Ages 4-10 Years Old

PLAY, EXPLORE, & PROTECT NATURE

Let your child go wild this holiday season at Audubon Zoo’s Holiday Camps! Animal encounters, hands-on science explorations, animal-themed movement activities, and nature art are just a few clicks away.

Holiday Camp runs from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and features up-close animal encounters, hands-on science, animal-themed movement activities, and nature art projects. Your camper will love to play, explore, and protect nature at Audubon Zoo Holiday Camp!

Registration includes every day of each respective Holiday Camp. No single day registrations are available.

Audubon offers your young nature enthusiast a unique camp experiences filled with hands-on science investigations, Zoo explorations, up-close animal encounters, arts and crafts, and nature-themed activities. Campers will enjoy the Zoo as their playground as they discover wild animals, wild places, and what people are doing to protect them.

Audubon Nature Institute strives to accommodate all children interested in attending our Camps. Please be aware that our camp is physically active, at least half of the day is spent outdoors, and there are multiple transitions and sensory changes throughout the day. All campers are expected to adhere to the Camp Code of Conduct, follow directions from staff, and respect the safety and well-being of the people and animals at the Zoo.

If you have any questions regarding registration, please email zooedadmin@auduboninstitute.org or call 504-913-0254.

Health & Safety

In order to provide a safe space for our campers, staff, and animals, all eligible campers born before April 1, 2017 must be vaccinated for COVID-19 in order to participate in camp. Campers born after April 1, 2017 are exempt from this requirement.

If your camper is eligible but requires a medical or religious accommodation, please contact Camp Management at camp@auduboninstitute.org for a Medical/Religious Accommodation Request Form. Guardians who are granted an accommodation will be required to show proof of a negative PCR or antigen COVID test for their camper, taken within 72 hours, at the beginning of each camp week. If you have any questions regarding registration, please email camp@auduboninstitute.org or call 504-913-0254.

Vaccination Policy

All eligible campers born before April 1, 2017 must be vaccinated against COVID-19. Families granted a religious or medical accommodation must present proof of a negative COVID test for their camper on the first day of each attended camp week. Campers born after April 1, 2017 are exempt from these requirements.

Camp Groups

Each week of summer camp is open to campers ages 4-13. Campers will be divided into groups based on the age group they are registered for: 4-5 years (1 group), 6-10 years (3 groups), and 11-13 years (1 group). Specific group requests will be noted but we cannot guarantee availability.

Camper Safety

Camper safety is our top priority. To ensure high quality supervision, the camper to staff ratios are 6:1 (4-5 years), 8:1 (6-10 years), and 10:1 (11-13 years). Audubon camps have a “Rule of Three,” which means that campers will always be in a group of at least three individuals, one of which will be either a staff member or Counselor-in-Training. All staff undergo a federal background check prior to employment and are trained on emergency procedures.
