Camping in the Zoo

Audubon offers exciting opportunities for youth groups to experience our facilities like so few do – After Dark!

Host a private overnight camping adventure at the Zoo for your school, scout, or youth group!

Experience Audubon Zoo like so few have – after dark!  Any group of 25 or more can camp overnight at the zoo and participate in fun activities, close up interaction with education animals, guided tours of the zoo, a campfire with s’mores and more! Registration fee includes fireside snack and continental breakfast. Guests must provide their own tents/camp gear and dinner.

Audience:

Youth groups including scout, school, and community groups for children ages 5 years and old.

Roar & Snores are designed for participants ages 5 years and older. While touring the zoo at night is fun for all ages, sleeping overnight can be intimidating. We understand that siblings outside of this age group may want to attend, but we ask that only children of the appropriate age group join us. Please take-a-look at our family overnight programming for younger audiences.

1 chaperone is required for every 5 children ages 6-18 years old

Program will start promptly at 6 p.m. and will end 9 a.m. the next morning

Sample Overnight Itinerary:

6:00pm Group arrives and sets-up their "camp" outside in the education yard
7:00pm Evening activities begin including: animal adventures, biofact times, campfire with s'mores and a night hike through the Zoo.
10:00pm Lights out
7:00am Continental breakfast
8:00am Morning hike through the Zoo
9:00am Group depart from the Zoo

Price:
$1500 for up to 30 participants (children ages 5+ and adults), and $50 for each additional participant up to a maximum of 50 participants

*A non-refundable deposit of 20% of the minimum payment is required reserve date.
Full payment must be made in full, 2 weeks prior to overnight date.
Programs are held rain or shine. There are no refunds.

Education Programs Refund & Cancellation Policy

Should you cancel or miss your reserved Audubon Education program, please consider your payment a donation to support Audubon Nature Institute’s mission. If education programming is canceled by Audubon Nature Institute due to extreme weather or other circumstances beyond Audubon’s control, the Education Department will strive to accommodate your program request by rescheduling your program or, when possible, by offering alternative program options.

Extreme weather conditions include but are not limited to excessive hot or cold temperatures, severe weather, or dangerous driving conditions. In extreme heat situations, defined as a heat index of 100 or above, live animals are prohibited from use in educational programming to ensure their safety.
