Jim EwersJames Ewers

Board Member, Audubon Nature Institute

Dr. James Ewers is a retired higher education administrator and teacher. He holds a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts. In addition to the Audubon Nature Institute Board, he also currently serves on the board of directors of A's and Aces, a New Orleans tennis organization, the Louisiana Tennis Association, and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Southern Foundation, and volunteers in local schools.

Dr. Ewers is a Life Member of the NAACP, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and a member of the Black Tennis Hall of Fame. He is also the author of two books.

Dr. Ewers and his wife Deborah have three adult children and five grandchildren. In addition to tennis and community service, he enjoys reading suspense novels, traveling, photography, and jogging. He was inspired to join the Audubon Board by the overarching mission of a proud and historic organization that provides such an array of activities and cultural events which educate and entertain our community, and his favorite Audubon animals to visit are the lions and tigers.
