Travel below the equator to the South American Pampas.
Travel below the equator to the South American Pampas where tapirs, rheas and guanacos await. You will also see a family of capybara: they are the world's largest rodent and great swimmers, too!
Audubon welcomed five baby capybaras born at the Zoo on July 4, 2012. When they are born, capybaras have all their fur and can see. The babies are also able to run, swim and dive within hours of birth. Look for the capybara family walking in the shade or swimming in the lagoon—this is one active animal family.
